As a person with Sri Lankan, Anglo-Indian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Scot ancestries, I am no stranger to the racist and sexist attitudes that women of color face daily in the workplace.

 

I have lived it in my college years and my 19+ years as a college professor. I know how the stress of this reality can erode a woman’s confidence.

But I believe that women – all women – can realize the beauty of their own voice and stand in their own power.

 

I have explored this theme in my award-winning stories and novels.

 

And now I'm working to bring this strength to even more women through empowerHER.
